The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down

Just over a week after the Isle visit people would find themselves drawn outside. The reason might vary, it was a lovely day and the air had the sweet scent of spring. It was the first truly warm day, and perhaps that was it. But for whatever reason everyone, or nearly everyone, found themselves outside and then drifted peacefully off to sleep.

As they slept a gentle rain came down upon them, soft enough to wake only those in a cursed sleep. The water not only broke dark spells and curses on the people the rain touched but for some people it brought a very different sort of transformation.

A number of the Missrecalled might find themselves awakening older than they had been when they fell asleep. Some of them might awaken with all their older self's memories, or maybe those would come with time, or maybe the memories would need more help to return. But when everyone awoke with a light dew on their faces and clothes, some people would be in for quite the surprise....

After the odd outdoor nap, many might wish to head into their rooms to get changed and freshen up. Or maybe they wouldn't go back to their room for a while, but when they did they would find a gift on their beds waiting for them....

She sighed when they landed, stepping away from him as soon as they were down. "So what the happinesses am I supposed to do now? Who do I report to? Normally I'd presume Leia, but if she just aged up as well, I doubt that she's already in charge of anything."

She considered. "Then again, it's Leia."

Sephiroth looked amused by that last comment. "I would assume you should speak with the king and queen."

"I'm sorry, I know I borderline was as a kid, but do I look suicidal to you?"

“The king and queen are very nice,” Sephiroth said. “You wouldn’t be in danger from them.”

"Even if I I haven't finished that ocean walled class?" she asked, skeptical.

“The dragon etiquette class? That wouldn’t be a problem here,” Sephiroth said. “I doubt they even know of such a class.”

"Even if not, there is a reason Marcus never sends me out to talk to powerful or rich people. I tend to say what I'm thinking and that tends to create reports and threats that I am about to learn there is a rank below private with Leontines."

“Zack was fond of saying what he was thinking as well,” Sephiroth remarked. “Sometimes it caused trouble, but other times the reaction was quite the opposite.”

"Yeah well.. Just as soon not get tossed in jail for having actual expressions."

“The king and queen here would not do that, I promise you,” Sephiroth said in a bit of amusement.

"Still isn't there some go between I could talk to instead?" she grumbled. "If they're the pair I remember seeing when I came over... there is no real way this ends well for me."

Sephiroth quirked an eyebrow. “What happened when you came over?”

"Just the impression I got from them was that one of 'em's not gonna be too impressed by someone like me and the other's gonna see right the happinesses through me."

“I see. And there’s no chance that might be a misunderstanding?”

"When there is a power imbalance, misunderstanding’s cause paperwork and demotions and angry Leontines," she said, dryly.

“And so you strive very hard to make sure there are no misunderstandings,” Sephiroth deadpanned.

She shrugged. "If I make it clear who I am from the first no one can get disappointed later." Thankfully the people who have called her out on that... are not here. Sanabalis would not let her get away with this.

“Is that why you think the king and queen don’t like you, because of something you said coming over?” he grunted.

"No, because I apparently even think loudly and people in power tick me off, generally."

“I see.” He still felt it was likely some kind of misunderstanding and he wanted to speak with them himself before fully deciding what had happened. “Well, you won’t need to look anywhere else. I will be your go-between.”

"And how do I pay you back for all this exactly?"

"Just be good flying company and that's enough," he smirked. She amused him, really, reminding him of Zack in some ways.

She eyed him, suspiciously, but said nothing. Fine, she'd just keep a running tally in her head and figure out how to pay him back later. On the one hand, this was going to be harder than tracking the food Severn bought for her. But on the other hand if this place really didn't have money she might have a chance to pay him back sooner than if....

Her brain screeched to a halt as something occurred to her. She smiled, though her eyes were still guarded. "Without money as a default, betting here must be fun!"
