The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down

Just over a week after the Isle visit people would find themselves drawn outside. The reason might vary, it was a lovely day and the air had the sweet scent of spring. It was the first truly warm day, and perhaps that was it. But for whatever reason everyone, or nearly everyone, found themselves outside and then drifted peacefully off to sleep.

As they slept a gentle rain came down upon them, soft enough to wake only those in a cursed sleep. The water not only broke dark spells and curses on the people the rain touched but for some people it brought a very different sort of transformation.

A number of the Missrecalled might find themselves awakening older than they had been when they fell asleep. Some of them might awaken with all their older self's memories, or maybe those would come with time, or maybe the memories would need more help to return. But when everyone awoke with a light dew on their faces and clothes, some people would be in for quite the surprise....

After the odd outdoor nap, many might wish to head into their rooms to get changed and freshen up. Or maybe they wouldn't go back to their room for a while, but when they did they would find a gift on their beds waiting for them....

“When one’s weapons are disabled and they have no further recourse they can take.”

"Huh," she said, rolling her head, getting loose. "Didn't take you for a masochist."

"We'll see." He smirked, spreading his wings. His usual strategy was to start off holding back somewhat and then gradually increase his power depending on how powerful his opponent was.

"Your funeral," she said with a smirk. "Start when you're ready," she said, hands on dagger hilts but still not drawing them.

He lunged with his sword. He also liked to fight with his powers, but he'd had to not do much of that since they didn't want that going on here. But he was strong enough with a blade that he wasn't concerned.

She waited till the blade got close then spun to the side away from it, dropping as she did so that if he didn't get out of the way her spinning leg would hit his ankle while her fingers grazed the ground keeping her steady.

If she tripped him or didn't, she'd be back on her feet, facing him, rapidly and smoothly.

He flew up with a mighty flap of wings, avoiding the attack. A couple of feathers floated down.

Instead of calling him a cheater or anything like that she smirked and began circling him from below, gauging the distance between her highest jump ability and certain parts of him. Mostly his feet, his wings, and the reach of his sword. "Bad angle for a sword," she pointed out to him. "Attacks from above work better with a halberd. Less swooping." She seemed amused.

"I didn't say I was going to stay up here," he replied, also smirking. Attacks from above also worked a lot better with a sword as long as a stadium.

He swiftly landed and charged almost with one motion.

She laughed and as he raced at her she dropped under the blade a hairsbreadth before it got to her, coming up under it as it passed over her head, raising one arm using the bracer to push the blade up, knowing no metal could cut through that bracer. With her other hand, she tried to drive her fist into his midsection, using his own momentum against him.

Sephiroth was hit and fell back, spreading his wings for balance. He didn't look daunted and recovered fast, trying to surprise with a sudden swing of the sword from the side.

She barely got the bracer up in time to block, rolling in after away from the swing to try and get out of his easy reach.


((Please let me know if any of this needs to be edited, I am reaaaaaly bad at writing combat, and somtimes don't realize a post - like my last one - could be taken as godmoding. That is unintentional and I am very happy to edit/talk things through OOC)

((Combat is very hard to write, lol. I'm not sure how long I can keep it up, honestly, as it always ends up feeling before long that I'm just writing the same moves over and over and I get bored. And other times I have no idea what to do next, especially that will feel IC. So we might want to end up time-skipping/hand-waving over a lot of it.))

Sephiroth chased her with a wild attack. If he wasn't stopped, he would slash a total of eight rapid times with the sword: one of his strongest attacks, Octaslash.

She did decently blocking at first, then the blocks got more desperate. Then one cut through her guard, slicing her sleeve and drawing blood on the arm that didn't have the bracer.

"Spit," she growled, drawing her daggers finally. Spit, huh? Well Tela would have spit her for missing that block, ocean wall it.

She got herself back out of reach in a defensive stance, daggers ready.

Sephiroth jumped back, surveying the situation. "Hm. This should be interesting."

Suddenly he leaped in the air, his sword pointed downward as he descended at her.

She barked a laugh, jumping back, sliding one of her daggers back into its sheath and palming something into her hand instead from a small slit in her pants. She danced back, waiting for him to change course and come after her again.

Sephiroth definitely wondered about that and didn't want to play too much into her hands. He did wish he could be free to unleash all of his powers like he normally would, but he was working with what he could.

He flew a small amount before starting to descend close enough to swipe with the sword.

She grinned and ran as if to meet him half way. As she did she threw whatever she had palmed while throwing herself into a tuck and roll to come up behind him while he was dealing with the small throwing dagger she had launched at his chest. The momentum from both her running and her tuck and roll helped negate the disadvantage throwing something upwards would usually have.

If he was distracted enough by the dagger to miss what she did when she popped up behind him, he's probably be very well aware of it when she dug her fingers into his flight feathers and made a fist, holding but not pulling, and ready to move with him to keep herself anchored at his back.

Sephiroth knew that throwing something and then moving away as she had done likely meant something going on behind him that he needed to pay attention to. He struck the dagger away with his sword and whirled, hopefully in time to stop her grabbing his feathers and perhaps fast enough to catch her off-guard.

She tried to spin with him but wasn't quite fast enough to grab his wing, so she settled for his ankle instead, trying to pull herself up and under his guard by climbing his leg one handed. She... was surprisingly well practiced at climbing with one hand occupied, it would seem, if she manages to get that far.

Sephiroth didn’t manage to stop her from doing that, at least at first, and was quite amused.

“Well, that’s new,” he remarked. “Not even Sora tried that one.”

He swatted at her with a lower wing, which might at least block her vision if successful.

She smirked and when he swatted at her, she got her feet up onto his boot to lunge up, trying to catch his wing in her teeth,

He jerked it back and reached to grab at her with a hand, while at the same time trying to trip her with the opposite lower wing.

Her free hand clung to his clothes and while he was focused on knocking her off and grabbing her, she brought her left hand towards his neck. The hand still holding her dagger, aiming to set it against his neck to make him yield.

This was where most people would indeed yield. But Sephiroth hadn't become the best in his world by being so easily defeated. Even though it seemed like he wasn't paying attention, he suddenly grabbed at her left wrist. If successful, he would hold the dagger away from him.
