The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down

Just over a week after the Isle visit people would find themselves drawn outside. The reason might vary, it was a lovely day and the air had the sweet scent of spring. It was the first truly warm day, and perhaps that was it. But for whatever reason everyone, or nearly everyone, found themselves outside and then drifted peacefully off to sleep.

As they slept a gentle rain came down upon them, soft enough to wake only those in a cursed sleep. The water not only broke dark spells and curses on the people the rain touched but for some people it brought a very different sort of transformation.

A number of the Missrecalled might find themselves awakening older than they had been when they fell asleep. Some of them might awaken with all their older self's memories, or maybe those would come with time, or maybe the memories would need more help to return. But when everyone awoke with a light dew on their faces and clothes, some people would be in for quite the surprise....

After the odd outdoor nap, many might wish to head into their rooms to get changed and freshen up. Or maybe they wouldn't go back to their room for a while, but when they did they would find a gift on their beds waiting for them....

"You have to keep learning just that one thing?" Further amusement. "It must be very difficult."

"Until I manage to be good enough at it, I guess."

From her tone and expression it was clear she thought that was never going to happen.

"What makes it so difficult?" He was terribly curious.

"You're kidding, right?" She was incredulous.

"I have never been on a planet where there was such a danger from the Emperor," Sephiroth replied, still smirking. Perhaps he was teasing. It wasn't always easy to know with him.

"According to practically everyone you have to be polite and respectful to the emperor because if you're not and he let you live he looks weak or some spit like that." She actually did turn her face from him to spit on the ground. "And apparently even my ocean walled thoughts are loud. And you're not allowed to put your ocean walled hands over your ear if he roars, not that it help, but it is still an ocean walled reflex. Can't slouch or crack a joke or speak anything other than High Barrani. There are reasons I'm never sent out on cases where I have to speak to rich people or powerful people. Pretty ocean walled sure the Emperor is the most of either of those.

It wasn't fully true anymore, that she was never sent to talk to powerful or rich people, but it was something that had changed so gradually that she really didn't realize it unless she actively stopped to think about it. Partially because in her mind once she got to know someone she saw them as them before she saw their money or power. She'd even lived in the palace for a while, though she had hated every moment of it and had moved out as soon as she could...

Sephiroth nodded thoughtfully. "Most of that is similar to what Zack had to learn on various planets, aside from the covering your ears part. He always complained about it."

"Dragon volume is why I cover my ears," she muttered.

"Perfectly reasonable, I'm sure," Sephiroth smirked.

"It is. And yet somehow it is offensive. Or... something."

"I suppose it would be, to a dragon," Sephiroth mused.

"How the actual happinesses they can roar like that and hear eacho ther fine but also hear me butter from across the ocean walled room I'll never know," she muttered darkly.

“Exceptional hearing is just one of many dragon talents,” Sephiroth smirked. Was he having fun with this? Oh yes.

She snorted rudely. "Along with the ability to talk down to anyone and sometimes forget mortals need to do little things... like sleep."

“They don’t sleep?” He knew of dragons that enjoyed sleep perhaps too much.

"Not the way we do. They have this thing called the Long Sleep which... is kinda like delayed death or something, not sure. It wasn't covered in racial integration classes and the Dragons I know get testy when I ask about the actually interesting things about Dragons. But Immortals generally don't have to sleep. The Barrani sometimes dabble in it when they're bored... but really they don't need it."

"Hm. Intriguing. That makes sense, I suppose ... that they wouldn't need to sleep." Sephiroth looked thoughtful, pondering.

Kaylin nodded. "Annoyingly," she grumbled.

By now they had pretty much flown the length of the space Sephiroth could comfortably get to. He started to turn around to head back the other way. It was nice to fly and stretch his wings, despite not being able to go very high.

"I come flying every day at some point," he said. "You are welcome to join me if you wish."

"Seriously?" she asked, blinking stunned. Then her cynicism caught up to her. "How much?"

Sephiroth regarded her in amusement. "As I said, money isn't used here. Just keep me company and that is a good enough price."

"I'll take it. I'm still waiting for the catch, but I'll take it." She could be taken flying? She'd take the risk.

"Good." Sephiroth soon landed with a smile. It was a nice flight.

She sighed when they landed, stepping away from him as soon as they were down. "So what the happinesses am I supposed to do now? Who do I report to? Normally I'd presume Leia, but if she just aged up as well, I doubt that she's already in charge of anything."

She considered. "Then again, it's Leia."

Sephiroth looked amused by that last comment. "I would assume you should speak with the king and queen."
