Don't Be Afraid To Be Who You Are - Auradon Side

The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down

Just over a week after the Isle visit people would find themselves drawn outside. The reason might vary, it was a lovely day and the air had the sweet scent of spring. It was the first truly warm day, and perhaps that was it. But for whatever reason everyone, or nearly everyone, found themselves outside and then drifted peacefully off to sleep.

As they slept a gentle rain came down upon them, soft enough to wake only those in a cursed sleep. The water not only broke dark spells and curses on the people the rain touched but for some people it brought a very different sort of transformation.

A number of the Missrecalled might find themselves awakening older than they had been when they fell asleep. Some of them might awaken with all their older self's memories, or maybe those would come with time, or maybe the memories would need more help to return. But when everyone awoke with a light dew on their faces and clothes, some people would be in for quite the surprise....

After the odd outdoor nap, many might wish to head into their rooms to get changed and freshen up. Or maybe they wouldn't go back to their room for a while, but when they did they would find a gift on their beds waiting for them....

Sephiroth quirked an eyebrow. “What happened when you came over?”

"Just the impression I got from them was that one of 'em's not gonna be too impressed by someone like me and the other's gonna see right the happinesses through me."

“I see. And there’s no chance that might be a misunderstanding?”

"When there is a power imbalance, misunderstanding’s cause paperwork and demotions and angry Leontines," she said, dryly.

“And so you strive very hard to make sure there are no misunderstandings,” Sephiroth deadpanned.

She shrugged. "If I make it clear who I am from the first no one can get disappointed later." Thankfully the people who have called her out on that... are not here. Sanabalis would not let her get away with this.

“Is that why you think the king and queen don’t like you, because of something you said coming over?” he grunted.

"No, because I apparently even think loudly and people in power tick me off, generally."

“I see.” He still felt it was likely some kind of misunderstanding and he wanted to speak with them himself before fully deciding what had happened. “Well, you won’t need to look anywhere else. I will be your go-between.”

"And how do I pay you back for all this exactly?"

"Just be good flying company and that's enough," he smirked. She amused him, really, reminding him of Zack in some ways.

She eyed him, suspiciously, but said nothing. Fine, she'd just keep a running tally in her head and figure out how to pay him back later. On the one hand, this was going to be harder than tracking the food Severn bought for her. But on the other hand if this place really didn't have money she might have a chance to pay him back sooner than if....

Her brain screeched to a halt as something occurred to her. She smiled, though her eyes were still guarded. "Without money as a default, betting here must be fun!"

Well, that was random. And it only amused him more.

“I don’t know that anyone here bets. I wonder what they’d use in place of money.”

"Back in the fiefs almost no one had any money worth making a bet interesting so we bet other things."

"Such as?" he prompted.

"Who gets the less moldy half of a role, who gets to beg on old Nester vs further in the fief, who has to tell the next story, who has to be the one to take a stupid risk that someone has to take."

“Ah, that kind of betting,” he said. Typical of children, more or less. Although darker when thinking of their horrible circumstances.

"I'm sure we'll find something to bet with here," she said with a bit of a grin. Then she scowled. "I can't swear so there has to be some ocean walled fun here."

“I’m sure you will,” he agreed, while at the same time wondering what was fun about swearing. “Those living here seem to be able to find fun.”

"That your way of saying the booze here is good at least?"

“Hmm. That’s a good question. I don’t actually recall seeing any here.”

Her face was probably priceless. "Let... me get this straight. Pretty much no betting. No laws to enforce, no swearing, no booze, flight is somehow limited... what the actual happinesses is done here for fun?"

Completely deadpan, he replied, "They seem to have fun making up songs about absolutely everything."

He had certainly had a WTH reaction the first time he had seen that.

"What the actual happinesses? Do they all have brain damage?!"

"Let's say they believe in very heavy dosages of positivity," Sephiroth smirked.
