Sephiroth Arrives - Backdated to August 29th

Arrival

There is a flash of light and a man with three blue wings suddenly appears on the campus lawn. Normally he prepares his arrivals to be rather flashy and dramatic, but he ... really hadn’t planned on this arrival at all. He had been minding his own business at the Dark Depths when all of a sudden he was here. And where was here, exactly?

He starts walking, looking for someone to help him understand what on earth just happened.

Main Lobby

Looking over the welcome pamphlet leaves him very confused. Those seen as villains go to something called the Isle of the Lost and those seen as heroes are sent here?

“You there.” Yes, he means you. Whoever you are. “Is this magic that sends people to these places always accurate on where it places them?”

How could it possibly have sent him here? He’s not a hero. Not anymore.

Dorm

He eyes the room warily. The blue he’s fine with. The plaid ... not so much. But of course he can’t be picky, and he won’t be.

He goes in with a sigh, examines the room, and lays down on one of the beds, all three wings hanging off of the mattresses’ edges. That will certainly be an unusual sight for anyone passing by the open doorway.

Will he have the room to himself, he wonders, or does someone else have the other bed in the room?

He didn’t expect to be that unlucky person being asked the question Sepiroth asked when he was sitting down, trying to pet Rose and Hedwig while he has the free time to do so. And yet the young man couldn’t help looking just as confused as he is as he turns his attention towards him in the lobby.

“Oh um, hello. Unfortunately Sir, you might have a point: it appears that the magic that has sent us into this world tends to be not very accurate on where we land in. For example, some really good people have been misplaced on the Isle when the first arrivals happened.”

Sephiroth smirked darkly. "I thought as much. I couldn't have been meant for this area. Not that I would want to switch, now that I'm here." What he was reading about the Isle sounded lost and bleak at best. He would have better resources here.

“I initially thought that I might have ended up in the Isle for taking up on some, um, very questionable methods back in my world. I got to admit, I would have liked to ask whoever originally made that spell why did they thought that was a good idea in the first place,” he admits to Sepiroth as the owl and Pygmy Puff made some calm animal noises.

"I would like to ask quite a few things about why they think the way the Isle is being handled is a good idea," Sephiroth remarked. "But I'm sure it would all come down to believing everyone there deserves it."

And he pondered this information. "So, you haven't always been unquestionably good either and you were still sent here? How interesting. Were your actions taken because you at least believed they were the best way to achieve a noble result?" Perhaps that was the criteria the magic looked at.

“At the time, I did thought that they were the only possible options I could’ve taken for some of the situations I was facing. Yes they did seem to be very questionable for others, maybe even to my friends, but they did at least gave me the results I was looking for,” Harry sheepishly admits to him.

"Then you had greater success than I did," Sephiroth said. "My actions led to what I initially wanted ... but then something else happened, something terrible and tragic. And that can never be taken back."

“Oh dear, that must have been very tough to deal with the aftermath that came from those actions,” Harry looks really sad to hear that Sepiroth had worse luck in getting good results from taking similar actions to his.

Rose squeaks in sadness, her eyes starting to well up with tears and she looks like she is about to cry at any moment.

"It has been," Sephiroth replies. He still hasn't gotten over it. He doubts he ever will, really. The only thing that could make any of it better would be if Zack is still alive out there, somewhere.

He looks to Rose with some surprise. "Your animal companion is sad for me?"

“Why yes, yes I do think so. Rose is feeling sad that you had to go through a lot in your world today. She is pretty sensitive to the feelings of the people around her.”

Sephiroth looked thoughtful and touched by that, but said, "If Rose sorrows for anyone, it should be the innocent who suffered because of my foolish actions."

“Ah, I see. That is fairly understandable,” Harry tries to be as understanding as he could, “I have seen how much suffering anyone could go through, many of which any normal teenager isn’t supposed to be introduced very early in life.”

As one is about to learn, Harry did not have a normal life growing up, even by wizarding world standards. Having been through rough situations for most of his life and a prophecy looming over his head long before he was born, he has definitely seen so many ugly things in various forms.

"Yes." The one Sephiroth is thinking of hadn't been much older than a teenager.

And he frowns a bit, looking at Harry more attentively. "You have had a sorrowful time as well, then."

“Oh yes indeed, Sir. I sure did lived a very sorrowful one,” he wasn’t joking one bit as he said it, “If he were to show up, you might want to ask a bitter black robes wearing man who tried to get rid of me all over a prophecy that came about before I was born.”

Roxas froze, was this guy talking to him? He'd been making his way through the lobby with his hood up. Which usually meant people left him alone, whether that was something to do with him, or because they confused him for Xion, he wasn't sure, but he wasn't above using it to his advantage.

He turned to face the taller man, not particularly interested in talking to a stranger at the moment. "I dunno, probably? How am I supposed to know?"

Sephiroth didn't look impressed by that. "Who here might know?" he countered.

He was definitely studying the other's manner of dress too. That looked very familiar.

He scowled, though it was hidden by the shadows of his hood. "One of the 'grown-ups', probably. Why are you asking? Did you just get here? Or... Are you looking for someone?" Nearly undetectable, there was the slightest softening of his tone with the last question.

"I did just get here, yes." He paused. "And you could say I'm looking for someone. Although if he's in this world, I'm sure he'd be here and not on the Isle."

Zack sent to the Isle? That was unthinkable.

[rexien]

"Oh, well uh, welcome then, I guess." He shifted uncomfortably. "I haven't seen any other new people today. Why did you want to know about the magic anyway?"

Sephiroth nodded in acknowledgment and then grunted. ". . . I just wondered how I ended up here instead of on the Isle," he said.

[rexien]

"Oh, I don't really know. I arrived on the Isle, but some people have been saying that isn't right. I don't really get it, but maybe it isn't very reliable." He shrugged. "Did you do something or something?"

"You could say that. An innocent person suffered because of my actions." Sephiroth had never meant to hurt him, never thought for one minute that such a thing would be the end result of his quest, but it had been. And that could never be taken back.

Sephiroth wasn't the only person who had said something along those lines. It wasn't much clearer to him now either, but it wasn't a good thing. He could tell that much. "What makes them innocent?"

Sephiroth blinked in surprise at such a question. "He was pure and good, only desiring to help and protect others."

What he could no longer see in himself was that those had been his own goals on his quest as well. He had not sought glory or recognition, but the protection of his people. But he had made unwise choices that had led to disaster.

[rexien]

He frowned. "So... You weren't trying to protect or help people..? That's why you were asking if the magic was right?" His questions were not particularly gentle, but it was clear from his tone that he simply didn't know, and had most likely not intended to ask insensitive questions.

That made sense though. 'Good' was protecting people, and 'bad' was terminating people. So he'd gone to the Isle because of what he'd done to Xion, even though he hadn't wanted to.

“… No … I was. But my friend saw my ideas would lead to sorrow and I didn’t listen.”

He did recognize the tone of not knowing.
