Let's See What's In The Cards (Mmhm)

The weather was still bitterly cold, and the snow was still thick on the ground, but it was finally possible to at least go outside by the front doors. The King and Queen have still forbidden anyone from staying overnight at the museum district in case it started snowing again. But the King could be seen outside trying to shovel snow enough to make a path to the castle at the least.

The snow was still too thick to get easily anywhere not shoveled, and the snow was so heavy that even beasted out, Ben needed to take constant breaks inside to sit down and dry off. This wasn't going to be a fast task.

It was only made harder when it started. For those who slept, it would start after they have fully awoken for the day. For those who don't sleep, they'd find that they had fallen into a pleasant daydream, even if it wasn't normal for them to do so. When they came out of it, that was when it would start for them.

But what is it, exactly?

Small snippets of memories, playing for anyone who was with the person remembering to see. But the thing was, these memories... were memories the person had not yet made. Memories of the future.

Not enough to give answers, probably not enough to give reassurances for much other than "oh hey, I do have a future after all," but generally pleasant, and short. Hey, it will give people a thing to talk about, at least. Especially since this will go on for the next two weeks or so.

Sephiroth smirked and sped up as well. He usually held back at first and gradually increased his power levels once he saw what the other person was capable of.

She grinned and just before it could turn into an all out race, a scene appeared before them.

Working It Out

Woods. The scene was from Aqua's point of view which was not helped by the fact that she was working out, staring at the forest, and the voices were coming from behind and to the sides of her.

"So that's it then?" a woman's voice. "World is saved and now...?"

"And now," Aqua agreed. "I did warn the three of you."

"You did," a male voice, gentle. "And our answer remains the same."

"All three of you?" Aqua asked.

"Not like we have anywhere else to go," another voice.

Aqua chuckled. "I'm sure Rabbit and the others would let you stay..."

"We're with you," the first male voice said. "But maybe we should rest first."

A snort laugh. "Not sure Aqua knows how..." the female voice said.

an boar like animal gave a loud hwonk noise, seemingly in agreement as the image faded.

Aqua managed to stop in time to not collide with the vision. If you could call it that given none of the speakers came into the field of vision.

A small smile, a single tear.

Sephiroth watched in a bit of confusion. "Who are those people?" he wondered.

"Ah... two of them left before you arrived. Æn'Kae and Ren were here for a short time. They, and the woman whose name is Chell are friends of mine. They chose to leave their worlds behind in order to help fight the Darkness. Even knowing I may never be able to get them back home."

"They were very devoted to the cause," he remarked. He pondered the phrasing she had chosen. "Is Chell still here?"

She chuckled. "No. As far as I know, Khell has never been here." She wasn't sure if that was better news for Khell... or for Auradon.

(When 2 characters have names that are so similar....)

(Lol, whoops.)

Sephiroth nodded. "You say the others left.... Just by the same magic that brought us here, or were they able to leave of their own volition?"

"I presume the same magic that brought us," she said. "While Rren probably would have taken the first chance to leave that they saw, I don't see Æn'Kae not saying goodbye, or at least leaving a note if there was any choice in the matter or warning."

Yes, and he also might think they’d offer to take others if they’d found a way to leave.

He nods. “Perhaps that magic will have allowed them to return home after all.”

He certainly hopes to get home eventually.

"If that vision was at all real, they are not home but they are where they came from."

"And that was ... the 100 Acre Wood?" Sephiroth blinked, remembering the mention of Rabbit.

She nodded. "We were using it as a base of operation to gather people who wanted to help."

"Hm. It seems strange to think of that innocent place being used for something so serious," Sephiroth mused. "Did they understand the gravity of the situation?"

"We kept them safe, and thy didn't seem to want to know, so we kept ourselves whenever we could unless they wanted to spend time with us."

"How did you end up deciding to use that world as a base?" he curiously wondered. "Just because it was likely to be the last place anyone would think to look?"

"Because it was safe. We needed a place to camp for some time where we could not accidentally attract the Heartless to us."

“They don’t bother that world?” Sephiroth said in some surprise.

"for some reason no version of it that I have ever encountered has been troubled by them. The enchantments on the entry way appear to be too strong. I am trying to learn how to use that to protect a whole world, but so far without success."

“That is intriguing,” he mused. “I heard that they caused some problems back home by tearing out pages of the book portal. That caused one of the residents to develop amnesia.”

Did that mean he and Aqua were not from the same version of the world?

"Then perhaps we are from different realities. Or ot could be simply different points in time. I may be from before that has happened."

"Either is possible," Sephiroth agreed. He pondered idly how to determine it. Not that it ultimately mattered, but he was curious.

"Do you know Sora?"

"Yes, from a few different points in his life."

"When did you see him last?" Sephiroth asked.

"That's a bit complicated to answer, and I suspect it won't really help. The easier answer is somewhat earlier, when he and Riku and Kairi were children. I met them all when they were small."

"Hm. I have only met Sora as a teenage boy," Sephiroth said. "I saw him not long before I was brought here."
