Let's See What's In The Cards (Mmhm)

The weather was still bitterly cold, and the snow was still thick on the ground, but it was finally possible to at least go outside by the front doors. The King and Queen have still forbidden anyone from staying overnight at the museum district in case it started snowing again. But the King could be seen outside trying to shovel snow enough to make a path to the castle at the least.

The snow was still too thick to get easily anywhere not shoveled, and the snow was so heavy that even beasted out, Ben needed to take constant breaks inside to sit down and dry off. This wasn't going to be a fast task.

It was only made harder when it started. For those who slept, it would start after they have fully awoken for the day. For those who don't sleep, they'd find that they had fallen into a pleasant daydream, even if it wasn't normal for them to do so. When they came out of it, that was when it would start for them.

But what is it, exactly?

Small snippets of memories, playing for anyone who was with the person remembering to see. But the thing was, these memories... were memories the person had not yet made. Memories of the future.

Not enough to give answers, probably not enough to give reassurances for much other than "oh hey, I do have a future after all," but generally pleasant, and short. Hey, it will give people a thing to talk about, at least. Especially since this will go on for the next two weeks or so.

"That's true," Sephiroth says with a nod. He knows the hearts certainly have real power; his wings formed from his strong emotions. "But I doubt even the hearts' power can bring back the dead ... unless it's an enchanted death."

Ironically enough, he's foretelling part of his own fate once he returns home.

"If I have learned anything in my life, my friend, it is that reality, every reality, has a way of surprising you. A way of making the seeming impossible into the actual. We are here having this conversation, after all, in a world that it was seemingly impossible for either of us to know of... let alone reach."

Sephiroth nodded. "You make a good point. Perhaps someday I will see my Zack again."

Even in the events the scenes depicted. He would love to believe they could be real.

"I am confidant that if it is at all possible, that it will absolutely happen."

"I wish I were as confident," Sephiroth said. "But I'm glad one of us is."

Someone should keep hold of hope when that was such a big thing to Zack.

Of course, Sephiroth really believed more in hope than he felt he did. He had never stopped looking for Zack and hoping to find him. Even here, he had tried to learn if anyone had seen Zack.

"Trust in your Heart. And in his."

"I will try to do better at that," Sephiroth agreed.

"I am here to help it, if ever you need it." If he let her, she'd rest a hand on his shoulder. The one without the metal plate.

"Thank you," Sephiroth said. He had shoulder armor on both shoulders, but he would be alright with a gentle touch from her.

(Whoops.)

So she rested her hand there and gave him a warm smile. And then her smile shifted. It wasn't obvious what was different, but it would have had Ven backing away slowly. "I know what can take our minds off of this for a while," she said, brightly.

The sad thing was... she genuinely saw what she was about to propose as a fun thing....

"And what is that?" Sephiroth asked.

"Training!" She said, brightly. "We can start with some laps up and down the stairs to warm up and then move on to some sparring for a start!"

Sephiroth might not actually consider it fun, but he did want to keep up on his skills while here, even if he never needed to use them. Focusing on work was a good way to put his mind to something else for the time being. So he smirked and said, "Very well. Let's do it."

She gave him a bright smile and nodded. "Let's go, then!" She said and then started to jog towards the stairs.

Sephiroth followed, easily keeping pace and looking like he might pull out ahead. He was as much in his element as Aqua likely was in hers, and definitely looked like he was enjoying it more and more.

Seeing that he was enjoying it, and seeing his speed, she smiled the way she might have at Ven... and sped up.

Sephiroth smirked and sped up as well. He usually held back at first and gradually increased his power levels once he saw what the other person was capable of.

She grinned and just before it could turn into an all out race, a scene appeared before them.

Working It Out

Woods. The scene was from Aqua's point of view which was not helped by the fact that she was working out, staring at the forest, and the voices were coming from behind and to the sides of her.

"So that's it then?" a woman's voice. "World is saved and now...?"

"And now," Aqua agreed. "I did warn the three of you."

"You did," a male voice, gentle. "And our answer remains the same."

"All three of you?" Aqua asked.

"Not like we have anywhere else to go," another voice.

Aqua chuckled. "I'm sure Rabbit and the others would let you stay..."

"We're with you," the first male voice said. "But maybe we should rest first."

A snort laugh. "Not sure Aqua knows how..." the female voice said.

an boar like animal gave a loud hwonk noise, seemingly in agreement as the image faded.

Aqua managed to stop in time to not collide with the vision. If you could call it that given none of the speakers came into the field of vision.

A small smile, a single tear.

Sephiroth watched in a bit of confusion. "Who are those people?" he wondered.

"Ah... two of them left before you arrived. Æn'Kae and Ren were here for a short time. They, and the woman whose name is Chell are friends of mine. They chose to leave their worlds behind in order to help fight the Darkness. Even knowing I may never be able to get them back home."

"They were very devoted to the cause," he remarked. He pondered the phrasing she had chosen. "Is Chell still here?"

She chuckled. "No. As far as I know, Khell has never been here." She wasn't sure if that was better news for Khell... or for Auradon.

(When 2 characters have names that are so similar....)

(Lol, whoops.)

Sephiroth nodded. "You say the others left.... Just by the same magic that brought us here, or were they able to leave of their own volition?"

"I presume the same magic that brought us," she said. "While Rren probably would have taken the first chance to leave that they saw, I don't see Æn'Kae not saying goodbye, or at least leaving a note if there was any choice in the matter or warning."

Yes, and he also might think they’d offer to take others if they’d found a way to leave.

He nods. “Perhaps that magic will have allowed them to return home after all.”

He certainly hopes to get home eventually.
