The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down

Just over a week after the Isle visit people would find themselves drawn outside. The reason might vary, it was a lovely day and the air had the sweet scent of spring. It was the first truly warm day, and perhaps that was it. But for whatever reason everyone, or nearly everyone, found themselves outside and then drifted peacefully off to sleep.

As they slept a gentle rain came down upon them, soft enough to wake only those in a cursed sleep. The water not only broke dark spells and curses on the people the rain touched but for some people it brought a very different sort of transformation.

A number of the Missrecalled might find themselves awakening older than they had been when they fell asleep. Some of them might awaken with all their older self's memories, or maybe those would come with time, or maybe the memories would need more help to return. But when everyone awoke with a light dew on their faces and clothes, some people would be in for quite the surprise....

After the odd outdoor nap, many might wish to head into their rooms to get changed and freshen up. Or maybe they wouldn't go back to their room for a while, but when they did they would find a gift on their beds waiting for them....

"Thank you," she said, giving a small curtsy before turning and leading him back.

Gabriel willingly followed the little Chara back to the 'twins' room, where he knocked on the door to announce himself before entering. "You wanted to speak to me about something, Nadeshiko?", he said.

"Please come in, she called. She was in the room, her back to the door, focused on something she was holding in her hands. Her voice sounded strained like she was forcing her voice to sound pleasant but it was difficult.

Permission granted, he entered the room, walking over to see what it was she was holding. "Is something the matter?", he asked. "If you sent Temari to look for me it's likely somewhat urgent."

She nodded. "Did... did you close the door?" she asked, hardly holding it together.

Not just urgent, but serious as well then. A moment, and Nadeshiko would hear a soft click. "I have now," he said. "What did you need to talk about?"

Paid ran out again

She took a deep breath then turned around. She was holding a small keylock in her hands. No key. The crystals on the lock shone in the light. She was crying silently as she held it, tears rolling down her face. "Why do I have the Humpty Lock?" she whispered, voice breaking with emotion.

His first thought upon seeing the jeweled padlock was that it was rather horribly gaudy. But it was a fleeting thought as Nadeshiko's distress immediately took precedence. He crouched down in front of her, resting a hand gently on her shoulder. "I don't know," he said honestly. "Frankly I'm not even certain what it is, or why it's as significant to you as it clearly is. Can you explain a bit about it?"

"It..." she took a deep breath, fingers closing around the lock. "We Guardians were given the Humpty Lock and the Dumpty Key to protect. We were told to hold them for the Joker. But they were stolen one day. A...actually right around when we met Amu-chan for the first time. Amu-chan got back the Humpty Lock and since she is the Joker, it is hers to protect now... But... but I woke up with it. Is... Does that mean..." She shuddered.

Humpty Lock and Dumpty Key? Really? Did the artifacts predate the nursery rhyme, or were they perhaps the origin of it? Given the connection to they had to eggs, he couldn't imagine it was a coincidence, but still...

"Given that among the things I received were two photos I'm almost certain aren't even from my world, I think I can safely assure you that it being here isn't an indication that something's happened to your friend," he said. "That said, I don't think it's entirely a coincidence either. And it is here now, which means we'll need to figure out what to do with it." Regardless of whatever powers it might possess, it looked quite valuable; not something one could just leave out in the open.

She took a few deep breaths, relieved. "So.. so you think she is okay?" That... that That could be okay then. But now she had to get home to get this back to Amu. Of course getting home meant... only Nagihiko would get to go home...

But Amu needed the Humpty Lock. "So... I... I ned to figure out how to go home to get this back to her?" she asked, sadly.
