The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down

Just over a week after the Isle visit people would find themselves drawn outside. The reason might vary, it was a lovely day and the air had the sweet scent of spring. It was the first truly warm day, and perhaps that was it. But for whatever reason everyone, or nearly everyone, found themselves outside and then drifted peacefully off to sleep.

As they slept a gentle rain came down upon them, soft enough to wake only those in a cursed sleep. The water not only broke dark spells and curses on the people the rain touched but for some people it brought a very different sort of transformation.

A number of the Missrecalled might find themselves awakening older than they had been when they fell asleep. Some of them might awaken with all their older self's memories, or maybe those would come with time, or maybe the memories would need more help to return. But when everyone awoke with a light dew on their faces and clothes, some people would be in for quite the surprise....

After the odd outdoor nap, many might wish to head into their rooms to get changed and freshen up. Or maybe they wouldn't go back to their room for a while, but when they did they would find a gift on their beds waiting for them....

“Mirrors are quite common here,” he said. “Are they not in your world?”

"They are. Almost everyone has one in their house to contact people. At least on the City side of the river."

"That's convenient," he mused. Like a telephone service. But he supposed they didn't have those when they had the mirrors.

She nodded. "Except when it doesn't work."

And that one time the mirror network was almost instrumental in destroying the city...

"Heh. That's always an inconvenient problem with communication devices."

And anything else that's useful but breaks. So basically everything.

"Any clue why the actual happinesses they don't work here? This place doesn't seem to be a sentient building." She did check.

"I don't know. I haven't been in any other world where mirrors are used that widely for communication," he said. "I've seen worlds where an occasional mirror is enchanted and used for information, but it isn't the normal thing. Most worlds I've been in use small handheld devices to communicate. Or larger versions of them."

Her face was unfortunately for her, expressive. And just now it implied all the swearing that the world wouldn't let her do.

Sephiroth tried not to show any amusement. “Did you receive a device like this?” He held up his phone.

She stared at it. "I... think so as a kid. I..." she winced and looked embarrassed "...may have tried to eat it..."

Sephiroth could not fully hide his amusement. “I hope you didn’t succeed in taking a bite.”

"I.... prefer not to comment. So... sparring?"

Sephiroth nodded. “I’m ready. I’ll take you to where it’s done.”

[kaylinneya]

She nodded, rolling her shoulders as she stood ready to follow, loosening her knees gently.

Sephiroth headed in the right direction, walking calmly towards the training area. Presently they arrived.

She nodded, looking around and taking it in as she started stretching. She pulled off her tunic and tossd it aside for Hope to nest in. "Weapons or no weapons?"

“Weapons,” Sephiroth replied, and picked up a metal sword. It wasn’t like his, of course, and it was dull, but he preferred it over not having one.

Kaylin nodded and rested her hands on her dagger hilts.

"End condition?"

“When one’s weapons are disabled and they have no further recourse they can take.”

[kaylinneya]

"Huh," she said, rolling her head, getting loose. "Didn't take you for a masochist."

[3wingedangel]

"We'll see." He smirked, spreading his wings. His usual strategy was to start off holding back somewhat and then gradually increase his power depending on how powerful his opponent was.

"Your funeral," she said with a smirk. "Start when you're ready," she said, hands on dagger hilts but still not drawing them.

He lunged with his sword. He also liked to fight with his powers, but he'd had to not do much of that since they didn't want that going on here. But he was strong enough with a blade that he wasn't concerned.

She waited till the blade got close then spun to the side away from it, dropping as she did so that if he didn't get out of the way her spinning leg would hit his ankle while her fingers grazed the ground keeping her steady.

If she tripped him or didn't, she'd be back on her feet, facing him, rapidly and smoothly.

He flew up with a mighty flap of wings, avoiding the attack. A couple of feathers floated down.
