Getting Ready
Finally, the path was cleared of snow enough to not just get to the docks, but also to carry stuff with them. Which meant that it was ISLE TIME! Time to go to the Isle and bring them supplies as well as to check in on everyone.
The day before the Isle visit there was still a ton to do. Many people had spent the long weeks - weeks? Months? Almost felt like years at this point! - making things to bring to those on the Isle. But their work, and thus that which they made, has been scattered all over the school. It all needs to be found and gathered into the crates that would be used to bring everything over to the Isle.
Morning of, the King seemed a bundle of energy checking and double checking everything, making sure that everyone was ready. Making sure that those who hadn't been there before were prepared for what they would encounter.
The Queen, however, was leaning back, watching everything over her coffee mug. While she might have seemed more disinterred and distant by far than the hyperactive Ben... Those who knew Mal probably caught on to the fact that she was noticing more than Ben was, and was directing him wherever he was needed most. Subtly.
She wasn't lazy, she was supervising. Clearly.
Once everything was ready, she pushed off of the wall and set her cup aside. Those watching her closely might see that she had been about to toss it over her shoulder and stopped herself at the last moment. Then she clapped her hands to get everyone's attention.
"Alright. We've done this before. Those staying back at the school get rooms ready for whoever we bring back, and make sure things are clean and neat and whatever. Those coming with us just as far as the docks, you're pulling the pallets," she said, nodding to the sledges where everything was loaded. Just without the horses to pull them. But that's what the Missrecalled were for.
"Those of us getting on the boat, if you haven't gone before, pair off with someone who has. I want everyone to know what they're doing in the way of boat safety by the time we get there. I don't enjoy fishing people out of the ocean. Alright, let's go, day aint getting any longer, folks."
Life Is Like A Boat
Once the boat was loaded, Ben made sure everyone planning to go had a life jacket on, and was ready to answer questions. Once everyone was ready, Ben gave Sylvando the signal. Off went the royal yacht, heading to the Isle.
"This will be so much easier once they clear their side of the bridge already," Mal muttered, then shook her head. "Alright, listen up. The closer we get to the Isle the worse the waves will get, and the storms... Well there are reasons beyond just the barrier that no one gets off the Isle without help from Auradon. So be sure you have a good grip on the rails. Once we're there, we are opening the barrier long enough to unload only. Keep an eye out, and stop anyone who tries to escape, and as soon as they're stopped let me know. I'll deal with it. Once the barrier is back up, we unload. We'll be there about 2 hours this time. You see anyone you know, let us know. At the end of the two hours, everyone needs to be gathered here, or you might be left behind. We'll make final decisions then who is coming back with us, then I will open the barrier just long enough for us to get back on the boat, then it will be closed once more and we'll head back to Auradon. Once on the Isle, with the barrier closed, magic will not work. Be prepared. If you have questions you can ask them. Otherwise. Chat or whatever, we've got a while because somehow they cleared the stu.... an inconvenient landing place for us."
On The Way back
The trip back from the Isle always had a different energy to it than the trip out. Between people being exhausted, and the million and three questions those on their way to Auradon for the first time might have...
Subdued, pleased, excited, scared... There were a lot of potentially new emotions swirling around, and this might be the first time some of these people have had access to their magic since their arrival. Wouldn't that be exciting?
Home Again Home Again, Jiggity Jig
Once in Auradon, the trip back to the dorm was almost a formality. It was once they got to the school that all those details that had to be put off during the boat ride had to be addressed. It was time to help the new people settle in, see if Mallia was up to making food for those who needed it, or maybe just give those from the Isle a chance to wash up, change into clean clothes, and sleep in an actual bed. Whatever it is they wanted to do, Auradon might just be the place to do it.

Date: 2025-03-15 10:41 pm (UTC)Sephiroth is definitely going. He spends the days leading up to the trip trying his best to be helpful, gathering items together to bring and helping others find their items. On the day of, he listens to Mal’s announcement and then looks around.
“I haven’t been there before,” he tells the others. “Would anyone care to pair with me?”
Life Is Like A Boat
Sephiroth really thought he had thought of everything. But now, as he holds up a life jacket, he sees a problem.
“Urm....”
He’d always had to custom-make life jackets before. How is he going to get a standard one on over his top wing?
On the Way Back
It was a long, strange trip and Sephiroth is deeply troubled by much of what he saw. How can anyone live like that?
He is mostly deep in thought on the journey back, but is approachable for conversation from anyone or to answer questions about Auradon for newcomers.

It makes him wonder if the locals of this world have no idea that people with large wings do exist or if they didn’t have the foresight to design any life jackets for people with giant wings or small creatures like his Pygmy Puff Rose.
“Hi there, is there a problem with these jackets? I can’t seem to find any that could fit a Pygmy Puff either.”

As far as she knew, he was a Landen, albeit on with an odd psychic scent, but perhaps he could tell her and Grey enough that they could add magic to his know how...?
She was thinking about it, unaware that she had trailed off.
"Or we could just use Craft to hold you on the boat like we're doing for ourselves," Grey offered, unaware that while that might work for th way out, he and Cassidy would be in rough shape on the way back...

From:Cassidy and Grey | OTA | CW: possible torture/gaslighting mentions
Date: 2025-03-16 09:00 am (UTC)Getting Ready
Cassidy and Grey had never been to the Isle, but have heard enough stories to worry them. They wanted to help. They weren't fully certain they grasped the "no magic" thing, but figured if Landens could handle it their whole lives... they could manage for a few hours, right? Besides, Grey had never been on a boat before. So this could be exciting. Still, they looked around for someone who could pair off with them and explain whatever needed explaining. Not that Cassidy was too worried, it had been a long time since she'd been on a boat since where she lived in both realms was a land locked territory.... but she had traveled with the Dark Court a little to some of the Isles in Kaleer. Boat safety as she recalled basically boiled down to how to use a little bit of Craft to keep yourself glued to a seat until you knew what you were doing. And know how to swim. Come to think of it...
"Grey... do you know how to swim?"
Perhaps not the most comforting thing for someone who is going with them to overhear.
Life Is Like A Boat
Cassidy taught Grey the spell to keep himself firmly in the boat. It was one she learned from the Coven... which would explain the very odd look Grey was giving her by the end of the explanation. But soon they were both stuck fast to their seats. Someone might want to show them the life jackets anyhow, because they had no clue what they were.
On The Way Back
Recovering. That was the best way to describe them. Recovering. Slowly. THAT HAD NOT BEEN GOOD. The pair was magically glued not to seats but to the deck as close to the center of the boat as they could manage without being in the way, clinging to each other. They both looked pale and shaken, and there were tears in Cassidy's hazel eyes. Grey's green eyes looked haunted.
Spark / Gar | OTA
Date: 2025-03-16 09:20 am (UTC)Gar was helping get things ready to hide the fact that he had exactly zero intention of actually getting on the boat. Well, of getting on the boat looking all human. Somehow as much as he thought some people might be horrified at Spark jumping off the boat to catch fish in his mouth, he suspected doing so as Gar would be worse. So he was bouncing around, helping, his mind on finally getting to go properly fishing...
Life Is Life A Boat - Attempt #1 locked to Gabe
After making sure that everyone saw Gar heading back to the dorms, he swapped forms to Spark and raced ahead from tree to tree to get to the boat before anyone else. He was sitting happily on deck watching them all approach. FIIIIIISSSSSSHHHHHHHH
Life Is Life A Boat - Attempt #2 OTA except Gabe
Having been kicked off the boat by Gabriel, Spark was looking for someone who knew he talked to help smuggle him aboard until it was too late to turn back, and then to help him fish. He even carried a stick with rope tied to it in his mouth as he looked for someone promising. Probably Prompto or Mallia would be his best bet he figured. But he wasn't going to be picky...

Date: 2025-03-16 09:37 am (UTC)Someone's prep involved a lot of longing looks at the things they would be leaving behind, and eating as much as they reasonably could while packing and prepping. And of course putting together a disturbing amount of personal effects to be going on the Isle for just a few hours...
Life Is Like A Boat
Ian spent a lot of time making sure all the many things they brought aboard was covered and well away from the rails and secured down in place. They put on the life vest without question or concern, more worried it seemed about their stuff.
Bitty Leia OTA
Date: 2025-03-17 12:12 am (UTC)Leia had exchanged her usual pigtails for a single braid down her back, a style Mal might recognize as her attempting to look serious. It really only went so far though, as she was still a cute little girl. A cute little girl who was fumbling a bit trying to get her life jacket on. She'd worn one before, but the ones she was used to were a bit different, and she'd always had an adult helping her.
Life Is Like A Boat
When Mal mentioned people being able to ask questions, Leia raised her hand. "How do you pick who's allowed to come back from the Isle?", she asked.
Re: Bitty Leia OTA
Date: 2025-03-17 06:56 am (UTC)Aqua came over to help her. "Thank you for coming with us to help. From:Gabriel Agreste- OTA
Date: 2025-03-17 02:32 am (UTC)Thankfully Gabriel was fairly organized, so it didn't take long to gather up the various clothing items he'd made to bring over. Taking inventory to make sure everything was there took a bit longer though. Basic shirts and pants in several sizes ranging from children to adults made up the bulk of it, but there were the oft unappreciated socks and underwear as well, also in several sizes. "Let's see," he muttered to himself as he went through the packed boxes. "A dozen shirts, four of each size, check. The same of pants, check. Do all the socks have matches though?"
Life Is Like A Boat
Gabe couldn't recall ever having traveled by boat, but was able to get his life jacket on without much difficulty, thankful that they had one able to fit his large frame. Finding someone to partner with might prove a bit more difficult however. Who all had been there before and who hadn't?
Once underway, he spoke up when questions were mentioned. "Is there a set way to distribute the supplies once we arrive?", he said. "That is, is there any particular location I should look for to put things, or person I should hand them off to?"
Re: Gabriel Agreste- OTA
Date: 2025-03-17 06:47 am (UTC)"Does it matter if they match?" Gar asked skeptically. "They're socks for poor people. They'll just be happy if they're warm and they'll be hidden under shoes anyway, won't they?" He wasn't trying to sound callous, but managed it anyway.

Date: 2025-04-01 07:12 pm (UTC)Prompto had two reasons for staying back, the first being the one he gave everyone, that being that it seemed most everyone was going. He'd offered to stay back and make sure any unoccupied rooms were ready for new guests. Beds turned down, dressers dusted, etc. Or just on the off chance there was a new arrival while the school was mostly empty.
The second of which was that getting into a boat on what he was told would be a rocky trip when he didn't know how to swim didn't seem like a good idea. Nor did he want to explain his inability to swim. So, no boat for him.
If anyone else remained at the school they could find him doing as he said he would; checking the rooms. Or taking occasional strolls around the grounds, just in case. He remembered his confused arrival still, and he didn't want anyone to be left alone in the remainder of the snow.
Home Again Home Again, Jiggity Jig
When he saw the boat approaching the dock, he made his way down to the dock to assist with any unloading there might be. He'd also greet any new faces, or offer a hand to anyone returning or new who might need one.
