The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down

Just over a week after the Isle visit people would find themselves drawn outside. The reason might vary, it was a lovely day and the air had the sweet scent of spring. It was the first truly warm day, and perhaps that was it. But for whatever reason everyone, or nearly everyone, found themselves outside and then drifted peacefully off to sleep.

As they slept a gentle rain came down upon them, soft enough to wake only those in a cursed sleep. The water not only broke dark spells and curses on the people the rain touched but for some people it brought a very different sort of transformation.

A number of the Missrecalled might find themselves awakening older than they had been when they fell asleep. Some of them might awaken with all their older self's memories, or maybe those would come with time, or maybe the memories would need more help to return. But when everyone awoke with a light dew on their faces and clothes, some people would be in for quite the surprise....

After the odd outdoor nap, many might wish to head into their rooms to get changed and freshen up. Or maybe they wouldn't go back to their room for a while, but when they did they would find a gift on their beds waiting for them....

She had clearly been about to say something pithy to Gabriel, but got distracted by the question Sephiroth asked, which also clarified the part that had been confusing her. "Oh. That." She shrugged. "Usually not so much Hawks, some Wolves have to sometimes, but either way that's not me. I'm not usually sent on delicate cases or cases involving people with more money than sense." Which given the expression she made when she said that probably was a good ocean walled thing.

Perhaps to Sephiroth's surprise, Gabriel shook his head. "It's less a matter of talent than it is sincere interest and hard work," he said. "It helps that I genuinely enjoy what I do, but I'm not really innately talented; I studied and practiced and- as is the case for many creative professions- had a healthy does of luck at the right time."

To Kaylin, he gave a wry smile. "Hmm... I can't imagine why," he said dryly. "Regardless of your feelings on fashion however, you will likely need a change of clothes or two, and you'll find that I'm every bit as capable of making simple, practical clothing as I am elaborate gowns. And I'll be certain that any I make for you are extra durable, so they hold up during future mid-air tussles."

"I see," Sephiroth mused, certainly curious. "That's very interesting."

He smirked a bit at Gabriel's sarcastic comment to Kaylin. Although by this point he would be very surprised if she actually agreed to give Gabriel a chance.

She shrugged. "Not like I can pay for anything, so you don't need to bother. I usually just buy whatever is cheapest, even if it is used. except my uniforms, those are provided. Besides, I got my armor. Well... my chainmail shirt and my bracer, apparently the pads didn't come with me."

"I haven't really been taking payment since I've been here to be honest with you," he said to Kaylin. "There aren't enough people here for there to be a proper economy, so there's not much point. As for your padding though, what sort do you usually use? Cloth? Leather? And is is simply layers of materiel or is it stuffed with something?"

"And yes, it is interesting, at least I think so," he said to Sephiroth. "And far more complex than it appears to the average consumer. Getting something from initial idea to finished garment can be quite a lengthy process, especially when it comes to more unique pieces."

Sephiroth nodded in agreement. He had tried to explain about that being the case, money not being needed.

He looked to Gabriel. "I agree. It took some time to design and make my coats."

"Usually just leather around cloth. But again, no way to pay." She really hated these no money worlds. What the actual happinesses. "And the way I go through armor in a crisis you'd never get anything else done anyway." She didn't need to make another quartermaster out of some rich looking man.
